# FEAST Multitasking Test Guide

> Learn how multitasking fits FEAST I and FEAST II preparation, how it differs from MULTI-PASS and DART work samples.

Divided attention and workload control are the focus here-a cross-cutting skill for FEAST preparation, not the official MULTI-PASS or DART modules themselves.

This page focuses on multitasking skills only. For the named MULTI-PASS work sample, see [FEAST MULTI-PASS](/feast/feast-multipass/). For DART and dynamic monitoring, see [FEAST dynamic radar test](/feast/feast-dynamic-radar-test/). For FEAST II structure, see [FEAST II overview](/feast/feast-part-2/).

## How multitasking appears in the FEAST process

EUROCONTROL describes FEAST I as cognitive ability tests plus an English language test, and FEAST II as more complex multitasking tests after FEAST I success ([candidate site](https://feast-info.eurocontrol.int/)). Some FEAST I cognitive items still require switching between sub-tasks (for example, updating one stream while watching another). FEAST II integrates multiple demands under higher time pressure.

“Multitasking test” in prep materials is often a label for skill building-not a guarantee that one module with that name appears at every organisation.

## Skills this page addresses

General multitasking preparation may include:

- dividing attention between two or more information sources
- switching tasks without losing place in the primary rule
- holding short-term updates while continuing monitoring
- recovering after an error without abandoning secondary duties
- keeping accuracy when pace increases

Pair with [FEAST attention test](/feast/feast-attention-test/) if you miss targets; pair with [FEAST memory test](/feast/feast-memory-test/) if updates are forgotten under load.

## Unique practice angle: primary-secondary lanes

Assign lanes before each drill:

- Primary lane: the task that must never be dropped (defined by instructions).
- Secondary lane: tasks you check only at fixed intervals (every N seconds or after each primary action).

Practise saying “primary” aloud when returning from a secondary check. Uncontrolled switching-not multitasking itself-causes most practice errors.

Short mixed sets on the [FEAST sample questions](/feast/feast-sample-questions/) multitasking sections can surface weak patterns; vary items so you do not memorise one sequence.

## Responsible preparation

- Use [ATC Preparation FEAST software](https://atcpreparation.com/feast-preparation-software?ac=atcpracticetest) or [JobTestPrep FEAST practice](https://www.jobtestprep.com/feast-test-practice#richard) on desktop, laptop, or tablet-confirm device requirements on the vendor site.
- Read live-session instructions carefully; prep products may differ in layout and rules from real tests.
- Do not treat vendor multitasking scores as pass predictors.

## What not to assume

- That multitasking drills alone replace FEAST I cognitive or English preparation
- That every FEAST user organisation uses the same multitasking modules
- That faster task switching without accuracy helps selection outcomes
