There is no single universal pilot aptitude test.

NATS runs its own trainee controller recruitment process in the United Kingdom. Other European and international air navigation service providers can combine FEAST, proprietary testing, interviews, assessment-centre exercises, medical screening, and employer-specific stages.

Candidates should not use “European ATC test” as if it were a single product name.

NAV CANADA

NAV CANADA operates a Canadian air traffic services selection and training pathway. Its current recruitment material should be checked directly because campaign stages, eligibility, testing, training streams, and locations can change.

Skill overlap does not mean product overlap

The strongest misunderstanding in aviation test preparation is assuming that shared abilities make two packages interchangeable.

Consider spatial reasoning.

A pilot candidate may be asked to interpret aircraft orientation, instruments, movement, or three-dimensional position. An ATC candidate may need to track traffic relationships, directions, conflicts, sequences, or changing information across multiple tasks.

Both involve spatial processing. The operational frame is different.

The same principle applies to multitasking:

  • pilot selection may combine control inputs, instrument monitoring, calculations, communication, or simulator workload;
